NYX Lip I.V. Hydrating Gloss Stain ($12) is a new vitamin-infused and hydrating lip serum, lipgloss, and stain that gives lips a wet shine while providing moisture and as it wears down it apparently stains lips. I instantly thought it was a Maybelline Super Stay Vinyl Ink Liquid Lipcolor but no way! It’s WAY better than Maybelline’s formula in my opinion!
NYX Lip I.V. Hydrating Gloss Stain is available in sixteen shades and is 0.16 oz in size with a price of $12 each. Just for reference Maybelline Super Stay Vinyl Ink Liquid Lipcolor is 0.14 oz and retails for $7.99 at retailers like Target. I actually like both formulas but NYX does reign supreme for me. This is a fabulous formula! They did well with it.
The gloss arrives in a circular barrel with a transparent teal stopper. It’s available in sixteen shade selections and has a light coconut flavor (although, I have read reviews saying it tastes and smells like caramel). The formula is a hybrid that acts as a lip serum, lipgloss, and stain. It absolutely works as a serum and a lipgloss but it doesn’t quite do the trick for me as a stain but I don’t mind all that much as I’m fine with the formula just as it is.
I’d go so far as to say this reminds me of NYX’s cult-fav Butter Gloss in terms of texture but it has a slicker, slippery feel with less balminess. It virtually weightless on lips but still packs a punch in the pigment and moisture department as well as the shine one. It glides on lips super smoothly and doesn’t accentuate your natural lip lines or dryness if you experience dry lips. The finish is super smooth and very shiny. It has the consistency of a creamy serum but feels like you aren’t wearing anything on your lips at all and feels very hydrating throughout the four hour wear. It’s not sticky, gooey, or goopey. I only purchased one shade but I’ll absolutely go back for more considering how much I love the consistency of this gloss.
They market it as having a lip-staining effect that lasts long after the glossiness has faded away. I got the shade Caramel Drip which is a warm caramel nude and I didn’t notice much of a stain at all from it. I haven’t tried any of the red or berry shades so those might leave more of a noticeable stain behind. I can’t say I mind though as the gloss provides decent wear time and glossiness that lasts through that wear.
NYX Lip I.V. Hydrating Gloss Stain was a win for me. This one impressed me and it’s hard to do that lately after trying SO many lipglosses. But this is a very nice formula with plenty of pigment, moisture, and a formula that wears oh so comfortably.

NYX Lip I.V. Hydrating Gloss Stain is a new hybrid lipgloss formula that acts to add shine, color, and moisture to lips. It’s formulated to act as a lip serum for moisture, lipgloss for color and shine, and a lip serum to add moisture. It’s available in 16 shade selections for around $10 to $12 per shade depending where you purchase it and is 0.16 oz in size. It has a light coconut flavor and fragrance with a thicker, creamy formula that has incredible pigmentation and a weightless feel on lips with a super glossy finish. It glides on beautifully used the slighted slanted doe-foot applicator and didn’t adhere to drier lips nor did it fall into the natural lines of my lips. The color was smooth, flawless, weightless, and wore for around four hours. Unfortunately, the staining effect didn’t work out for me. When the gloss wore away I didn’t notice any stain but I did choose a nude shade! Perhaps a rose, berry, or red might provide more of a stain!
